The Bespoke Journey

  • Not at all. You don’t need a perfect script, a movie-worthy romance or a list of milestones. The joys, struggles, laughter, and quiet moments that come from simply living is already a story. We’re here to listen, hear what matters to you and translate that feeling into a piece that’s truly yours.

  • Your bespoke experience begins with a First Conversation either in our atelier or online. We will learn about your style preferences, timeline and expectations for the piece. A preliminary costing is provided after this meeting.

    Upon your engagement confirmation, a non-refundable RM1,500 commitment fee will be collected for the design and sourcing phases. We will then present artist impression designs based on your story, with two revisions included.

    If a special cut or rare gemstone is needed, full payment for that stone will be required before sourcing. Allow an extra 1 – 2 months if custom cutting or rare stones are involved.

    Once design, quotation and timeline are approved, a 50% deposit of the project quotation will be collected and your piece will be scheduled into our production timeline. Crafting typically takes 12 – 16 weeks (not including sourcing time). The remaining balance is due before collection or shipping.

  • Yes, many of our bespoke pieces travel the world. Your First Conversation with us may be arranged online, with follow-up updates via text or email. Additional virtual meetings can be scheduled when needed. We arrange fully insured, premium express shipping once your piece is ready.

Design & Materials

  • Yes. While engagement rings and wedding bands are our core work, we welcome commissions for other fine pieces. Pendants, necklaces, earrings, bracelets, brooches, cufflinks and camera hot shoes, to name a few.

  • As artisans ourselves, we respect the creativity, effort, and time other artists invest in their work. Therefore, we only offer quotations solely based on our portfolio. All designs are original and conceived within the Left & Right atelier.

  • We primarily work with 18kt yellow gold, 18kt white gold, 18kt rose gold and a custom silver–platinum blend.

  • We understand how deeply sentimental a stone can be — whether it is a family heirloom, a keepsake from a journey, or simply something you have treasured for years. We are happy to explore incorporating your gemstone but we will first take time to examine it carefully to be sure is safe for unsetting and resetting.

    As every gem has its own history (tiny inclusions, past treatments, hidden stress), we will be transparent about any visible risks we notice. As our assessment is not a full gemological certification, we strongly encourage obtaining an independent gem-lab verification for your record.

    We will treat your stone as if it were our own, though nature sometimes hides flaws no one can predict. For this reason, we can’t accept liability if an undetected weakness causes damage during crafting.

Timeline & Logistics

  • Most bespoke pieces require 4 – 6 months from first conversation to delivery, depending on the project complexity and our waitlist. Please feel free to get in touch with us for a personalised estimate.

  • Your bespoke piece will be lovingly and securely placed in a keepsake box with a soft suede interior. It will be accompanied by a story card that includes a handwritten bespoke poem. We want the unboxing to feel meaningful and act as an extension of the care and thought poured into creating your heirloom.

  • Yes, we do. All shipments are handled through fully insured, premium DHL Express shipping.

    • We offer complimentary shipping for orders above RM15,000 within Malaysia and internationally.

    • For international deliveries, the full value of the parcel will be declared for customs. Any duties, taxes, or clearance fees required by the destination country are the client’s responsibility. While we carefully pack and insure each piece, Left & Right is not liable for delays or issues caused by customs or the courier.

After-Sales & Care

  • All bespoke rings are crafted to a specified size and measurement. Minor resizing is complimentary within two sizes after collection. Larger or more complex adjustments may incur a fee. You will be responsible for insured, registered shipping if you’re mailing the piece to us. Any third-party modifications will void our warranty.

  • All fine jewellery requires thoughtful care to preserve its beauty over time. Natural materials such as metals, gemstones and pearls are sensitive to everyday elements. A few mindful habits will help keep them looking their best:

    • Perfume, lotion and cosmetics: These may dull the lustre of metals and pearls if they come into direct contact. Apply them first and let them absorb before putting on your jewellery.

    • Shower and bathing: Pearls and certain softer gemstones may absorb soapy water, which can weaken them over time. Clear gemstones may also develop a film of residue underneath, reducing their brilliance.

    • Chemicals: Harsh substances such as chlorine or household cleaners can damage metal surfaces and gemstones. Please avoid wearing your jewellery in swimming pools, hot springs or when handling strong cleaning agents.

    • Storage: When not in use, store your piece individually in its original box to prevent unnecessary scratches or tarnish.

      Do feel free to contact us for simple at-home cleaning and maintenance tips in between professional care.

  • All metals naturally develop fine marks as they are worn — each one a quiet record of your life and experiences. At Left & Right, we take care to recommend materials and designs suited to your lifestyle. Should you ever wish to restore a mirror finish or check the gemstone settings, you are welcome to book an appointment with us. We will be glad to advise you on cleaning, polishing or any care your piece may need.

  • Yes. We invite you to an annual complimentary check and cleaning at our atelier. Prong tightening, polishing and resizing (if needed) are quoted individually.

  • We recommend returning your bespoke piece to us for any resizing, polishing or repairs. If work is carried out by a third-party jeweller without our prior consent, it will void your warranty with Left & Right. This is to ensure that your piece is cared for using the right methods and craftsmanship. Should you ever need assistance, we will be more than happy to guide you through the proper maintenance process.

Policies & Assurances

  • As each Left & Right piece is created to order, all sales are non-returnable and non-exchangeable.

  • We stand by our craftsmanship and cover any production flaws that are attributable to the production of your Left & Right piece. Damage caused by wear, accidental impact, exposure to chemicals or work carried out by another jeweller is excluded.

  • Yes. All designs remain the intellectual property of Functions of Time Sdn Bhd and Left & Right™. They may not be reproduced or commercialised without our written consent.
